Disney’s latest superhero project, Black Adam, is being rolled out with a new trailer. The short teaser video features Dwayne Johnson flexing his muscles and showing off some of the film’s action scenes. Surprisingly enough it doesn’t feature any footage from the movie itself! This lack of concrete information has led many fans to speculate which villain will be making an appearance in the flick.?
Black Adam is a DC Comics superhero, who was created in 1972. The character is known for being an antagonist to the Marvel Comics superheroes. Dwayne Johnson will be playing the titular anti-hero in the upcoming film.
The teaser trailer for Black Adam has been published. Dwayne Johnson was slated to portray Black Adam in the first Shazam picture, but it was determined early on in the creative process that the two characters would star in their respective films. While Zachary Levi and Asher Angel made their film debuts in Shazam! in 2019, Johnson’s Black Adam won’t be released until July 2022. Jaume Collet-Serra, who collaborated with Johnson on Disney’s summer smash Jungle Cruise, is directing the feature.
Cast members portraying Justice Society of America characters, including Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz as Isis, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, will join Johnson in Black Adam. Little has been published about the film other from a few set photos, including a glimpse at Johnson’s Black Adam outfit, which is draped in some type of cloak. However, a fresh peek at the upcoming Black Adam film has been released.
The Black Adam teaser trailer was presented at DC FanDome 2021; see it in the video below. There are a lot of hints in this video, even if it isn’t a typical teaser trailer. The film begins with some behind-the-scenes footage, showing short glimpses of the JSA’s uniforms, including Cyclone, Hawkman, and Atom Smasher emblems. The second half of the video is a scene from Black Adam’s opening scene, in which Shahi’s Adrianna Tomaz discovers Johnson’s character and “wakes” him up.
The two key conclusions from the Black Adam movie footage are that it reveals the character’s “origin” in current times – at least as far as Shahi’s role is involved. Adrianna’s role was portrayed as a freedom warrior when she was cast, so it’s plausible that she believes Black Adam would assist her. Aside from the plot premise, the Black Adam film also demonstrates at least four of the character’s abilities. He has lightning talents, which he exhibits by crisping one of the guys, as well as superspeed, which he demonstrates by snagging a bullet in mid-flight. The other two abilities are flying and strength/bullet resistance. Johnson has long hinted that the advent of his Black Adam would alter the DCEU’s power structure, and it’s evident from this little glimpse that his character will be able to challenge both Superman and Shazam in terms of abilities.
What remains to be seen, of course, are the JSA’s abilities and how they fit into the Black Adam story. While Johnson’s character is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the film, and it’s only natural that he would be at the heart of the first Black Adam teaser trailer, the film also features a number of other DC characters. It’ll be interesting to see how their clothes are designed and how their abilities are shown on screen. Doctor Fate, played by Brosnan, is one of the most anticipated of the heroes, while Hawkman, played by Hodge, and Atom Smasher, played by Centineo, aren’t far behind. When the first genuine Black Adam trailer is published — most likely next year – more will undoubtedly be revealed.
