There was a time when I was a pretty big fan of the Disney Channel Original Movie (D.C.O.M.) series. Their stories were fun and entertaining, and I found myself constantly re-watching them when I was younger. However, as I have grown up and become more serious about life, I have found that I don’t have the same appreciation for the movies that I did when I was a kid. This is mostly due to the fact that I have grown to care more about the morals and messages in the movies, and have grown away from the stories being “just for fun”. That being said, I still think it is a fun series, and I would love to look at them again.
One of the most common themes in the Harry Potter books and movies is the importance of good friends. Harry has the best friends ever, Hermione always has his back, Ron is hilarious, and Mrs. Norris is harmless. But what about the rest of the friends in the magical world? We all know about Dumbledore, but what about everyone else? We all know about Dumbledore, but what about everyone else? For the most part, these characters have been left out of the Harry Potter movies, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t important. If you want a guide to the best friends in these movies, then you’ve come to the right place.
If you’re a fan of the horror genre, you know the story of Halloweentown, which is based on the famous children’s novel series of the same name. Halloweentown movies in order
1. The Town of Halloween – (1998)
Marnie and her siblings (Dylan and Sophie) dispute with their mother, Gwen, over why they can’t go out for Halloween. Aggie, their grandma, is, on the other hand, more supportive. Aggie and Gwen are both witches, but Gwen wants to live a regular human life, while Aggie plans to teach Marnie to be a witch. Aggie tells the kids a bedtime tale called “Halloweentown,” which is about a land where magical creatures coexist. Sophie observes that Marnie in the novel resembles a witch.
The youngsters follow Aggie aboard a magical bus to Halloweentown as she departs. Rather of returning them to their house, Aggie chooses to begin Marnie’s witch training. Aggie, on the other hand, says that she must fight a terrible monster that resembles a hooded demon. Aggie sends the kids to town to get the materials for a talisman that will help them fight the monster.
Gwen returns to Halloweentown to pick up the kids. However, she is unable to locate a bus to return to the mortal world and seeks assistance from the mayor and her ex-boyfriend, Kalabar. Gwen and the kids suspect Aggie is in danger, so they follow her to an abandoned theater, where they find the missing Halloweentown residents have been trapped in time. The monster freezes Gwen and Aggie, allowing the children to flee.
The youngsters are eventually able to gather the materials required to activate the talisman. To vanquish the monster, they find that they must place the talisman in the town’s big jack-o-lantern. The demon comes and stops them, revealing himself to be Kalabar. He preaches to the inhabitants of the town, attempting to convince them to join him in his mission to conquer the mortal world. As Marnie tries to activate the talisman, Kalabar freezes her. As she is about to be frozen, she is able to put the talisman into the lamp, unfreezing both herself and the frozen residents of Halloweentown in the theater.
Kalabar gets the talisman and declares that he will control both the mortal and magical worlds with it. Kalabar is defeated by Gwen, Aggie, and the children, who are revealed to have magical abilities. Finally, the family departs for the mortal realm, where Gwen and Aggie promise to teach Marnie how to be a witch.
2. Kalabar’s Revenge: Halloweentown II – (2001)
Marnie is drawn to Kal at a Halloween party and continues to show him Aggie’s enchanted chamber. Kal is Kalabar’s son, and he takes advantage of Marnie’s ignorance to steal Aggie’s spellbook. Aggie soon discovers some concerning magical signs. They go to Halloweentown with Marnie and find that the town has been transformed into a black and white world, with the inhabitants, including Luke the goblin, transformed into monotonous humans. This is referred to as the “Grey Spell” by Aggie.
They soon discovered that Kal had taken Aggie’s book in order to keep her from interfering with his father’s vengeance on Halloweentown and the mortal realm. Luke is accidentally reverted to his goblin form by Marnie. The gang thinks the spell’s removal is transitory since they can’t explain it. The trio travels to Gort’s lair, a place where all of the universe’s garbage is gathered in one place.
When Aggie begins to succumb to the Grey Spell, Marnie travels back in time to Gort’s home before the Grey Spell struck. They learn that Gort sold a spare spellbook to Kalabar fifty years ago. Marnie discovers that the Grey Spell may be broken by uttering “Trapa” (a reversed version of “Apart”).
It is revealed that Kal is now trying to curse the mortal world into a Halloweentown-style cinematic caricature. Kal turns the party attendees, including Gwen, into monsters during a Halloween high school party. Marnie manages to release Aggie from the Grey Spell, but the two soon discover they’re stuck in Halloweentown.
Marnie and Aggie are able to contact her siblings and develop a new magic that allows them to go to the mortal realm. Kal confronts Marnie, who assaults her with black magic, which fails when Marnie steals both of his spell books. Kal is sent away with his magic at his own request, with a threat that he will return with vengeance. On both realms, the family may reverse the spells.
3. Halloweentown High School (Halloweentown High School) – (2004)
Marnie is getting ready to start a new school year. She asks the Halloweentown Council to enable kids from Halloweentown to attend her mortal high school. Concerned about the tale of the Knights of the Iron Dagger (a knightly organization dedicated to the destruction of all magical objects), they agreed to her request only after she staked all of Cromwell’s power on her scheme working. They had no idea she was joking when she said it. If things go wrong by Halloween midnight, her whole family loses their power.
When Halloweentown kids visit Marnie’s school, they are granted magical disguises. In case of need, Aggie disguises herself as a replacement teacher and builds a remote magical locker for the Halloweentown kids. Marnie develops love emotions for Cody, a new student. Through a sequence of acts, the Knights of the Iron Dagger issue a warning. The kids of Halloweentown lose their masks, the magical locker is broken into, and Cassie (a student) goes missing.
Aggie and Marnie quickly discover that the Knight behind the events is Flanagan (the school administrator). Unbeknownst to them, Dalloway, the leader of the Witches Council, is enlisting the help of Flanagan to ensure that Marnie’s plan fails, in the interests of keeping Halloweentown and the mortal world apart.
Dalloway assaults mortal children during the school’s Halloween festival by bringing inanimate creatures to life. Flanagan then forms a mob to surround the kids of Halloweentown. As the mortal hordes draw in on them, Dalloway appears in front of everyone and steals their power. He makes his way to Halloweentown and shuts the gateway that connects the two realms. The mob is initially hostile toward the residents of Halloweentown, but Cody shames them by asking whether they would welcome Marnie now that she is one of them. The audience welcomes the Halloweentown kids as they are, and Flanagan gives up his knighthood.
Aggie catches Dalloway as he tries to flee via a portal using a witch’s glass. They also track down Cassie, who has been held captive by Dalloway. Dalloway is imprisoned in another witch’s glass by the Council, who appears via projections. Dalloway is defeated, and Aggie and Marnie are able to regain their power.
Inside the Halloween carnival, the gateway between Halloweentown and the mortal world remains open. People from Halloweentown may go to the mortal realm to participate in the carnival with their mortal counterparts. As they soar above the carnival on a broom, Marnie and Cody share a kiss.
4. Visit Halloweentown again – (2006)
Gwen is furious when Marnie, now 18 years old, chooses to attend Witch University in Halloweentown. Gwen compels Dylan to accompany her in order to keep an eye on her. Gwen and Dylan find that they are not permitted to use magic at university. Annessa, a genie, introduces Marnie to a new acquaintance. She also makes new adversaries in the Sinister Sisters, a wicked trio of witches who are the daughters of Silas Sinister (the university’s Chancellor, unknown to her). Dylan, on the other hand, develops a crush on the Sinister Sisters.
Marnie is presented with a silver box with the words “S. Cromwell.” Silas then takes possession of the box. The Dominion is an organization formed by Silas and a handful of instructors. They plan to open the package with Marnie in order to get the surprise inside. Professor Periwinkle explains to Marnie that S. Cromwell is for Splendora Cromwell. Splendor has kept “the Gift” in that silver box for a thousand years, Dylan and Marnie find. The Dominion, unbeknownst to them, was keeping an eye on the pair and intended to utilize him in their scheme to take over Halloweentown. The Sinister Sisters quickly cast a spell on Dylan.
Periwinkle accepts Marney’s request for assistance and transports her a thousand years into the past to meet with Splendora. She discovers that the Gift is a strong necklace that gives the wearer total control over anybody. Splendora is revealed to be Aggie (who adopted the name Aggie due to her middle name being Agatha).
When Marnie returns to the present, she is apprehended by the Dominion, who threaten to use the necklace to take control of Halloweentown. With the assistance of Aneesa, Marney is able to switch them on, trapping the necklace in her genie lamp. They demolish the light, which then demolishes the necklace.
Periwinkle, who exposes herself to be a Halloweentown Detective, apprehends the Dominion. Marnie had not destroyed the necklace, but had hidden it for Dylan’s protection since he is the only one she trusts. Dylan stows the necklace away, only utilizing it when absolutely required.
